The strange ways I learnt about life, the way you seek peace in distant lands. These photographs are about a life changing experience that I had when I visited LAHAUL and SPITI. Its been one real long journey, took us about 4 days to reach the place via road but the roads, highways and the journey was magnificent. The four days of travelling were equivalent to the journey of a lifetime. The peace that I found in the magically sparkling blue colors of the SPITI RIVER. This surreal river seems to have originated from the Heaven. The place was inspiring beyond words. The Buddhist chant "OM MANEY PADD MEIN HUN" , inscribed on a mountain seemed to me as an act of nature, painting on the sand mountains felt like a painting created by the Almighty himself. The small villages of TABO and NAKO, the Monasteries, the scarce population, no mobile networks and no electricity are the major highlights especially for people who seek peace and beauty in its simplest rarest form. The tough terrains, amazing heights and the unpredictable ever changing weather provides quite alot of adventure. The roads are very difficult and bumpy, landsliding almost for continuous 200kms post Kalpa and Kinnaur. Came across a sign on a locked door "NATURE DOESNT COMPROMISE" which made me realize, in its truest essence, that there's a nature beyond mine which is so powerful that it can put an end to everything that I have ever desired... Nature Playing Havoc in the form of landslides can be a major setback. The beautiful sunset and sunrise view of Mount Kailash from Kalpa Kinnaur is majestic.
This place is definitely not for luxury seekers but for people who are seeking happiness in simple pleasures.
